The October meeting was held at
Downtown Grill and Brewery. The only
board members in attendance were:
Mike Feeback
Sharon Kniffin
Randy Ross
This was not enough to establish a
quorum. Legally speaking there was no
meeting. So what are follows are 'notes' from the gathering rather than
'minutes' from the meeting.
-
Robert volunteered that preparation and distribution of minutes and
other society communication could be handled by the website committee so Robert
is preparing and sending this.
- Total attendance at the meeting was
less than 10 people.
-
The IBC competition at Brackins yielded $537 which by previous vote will
go towards defraying expenses for Labron Lazenby and the LA3 when they
represent our region at the International Blues Competition.
-
These monies break down as follows:
$100 from band registration ($25x4) + $437 in the tip jar. The Society also brought in $115 from new
members who signed up during the two night run at Brackins.
-
The Shrimp Boil at Baker Peters raised $230 for the Society.
-
A check for $100 was prepared for WDVX to enable the Society to be an
'official sponsor' of the Johnnie Mack Blues Attack program on WDVX. This was voted on a few meetings ago.
-
The board of directors will meet on November 4th,
-
we have added around 10 members since the
initial 41 (the membership list currently on the web site). Mike committed to getting the additonal names
or revised list to Higginbotham for posting on the site and updating our email
list.
-
December 13th was selected as the date for the Society Christmas
party. While no details are figured out
yet it was thought that 1) the party would be at Brackins 2) live music will be
provided 3) this will be the '4th' quarter event of the entertainment
committee. It was suggested that the
format could be pot luck. It was also
suggested that we make it a charitable event and donate proceeds to an
organization that supports those in need.
- Links suggested for the web site
were
The Blues Foundation
Blue Gills Pond
Brackins
Johnnie Mack Blues Attack
Bands with members in the Society (the website committee will ask for
information in a separate email).
- Ray Brown volunteered to provide
photos for the website
The next meeting will be the Sunday
after Thanksgiving, November 29th at Brackins at
Respectfully submitted,
