Talk about Thanksgiving, it’s here.  Eric Bibb’s fantastic new CD is out entitled “Booker’s Guitar.”  Just fabulous.  This is a double CD, 3 bonus tracts actually, and strong from start to finish.  Not only is the music pure Eric Bibb, rhythmic, melodic, beautiful, and light, but it has a ghost from the past in it.  I couldn’t believe it, but he is playing Booker’s White’s guitar!  Yea, that’s right Bukka White.  Panama Limited, Delta master from the ages.  That guitar!  Now he doesn’t play it like Booker, rough, hard, like the Special Streamline coming full steam out of Chicago heading South.  Rather in that soft picking, beautiful touch and great voice that only Eric does.  This CD is just great.  I mean I love it.  There are three bonus tracks as well for a total of 18 songs.  I don’t know how he could improve on his reputation, but he has, and we all get to benefit from it.  This one is Iconic, and with the “real thing” guitar.  Booker’s old guitar is a 1934 Steel Bodied National and it just hums.  Something to behold, history just oozes from it.  Rings like silver, shines like Klondike gold.  I’m sure that Booker would love it himself, and would certainly approve the beautiful music that comes from his guitar.  Eric plays with class and heart.  Gospel blues, love songs, just wonderful.   “Walkin’ Blues Again,” “Wayfaring Stranger,” “Nobody’s Fault But Mine,” just a ton of great stuff.  This CD gets my full endorsement.  Go get  one for yourself.  Get a few for your dearest friends for Christmas.  Or any occasion.  Good music, is good music, and this is it.   Booker’s old guitar, out of the case, dusted off, and breathing the blues again.  Just perfect.  Thanks Eric.  One love……..blue barry – smoky mountain blues society – knoxville, tennessee
